We’ve seen a lot of reports that China has been producing and selling many fake products including food. A couple of months ago, China had made headlines on the fake plastic rice warning the public of its dangers to the health of consumers.
Recently, another revelation of fake products from China has surfaced on the internet. These are rat and fox meats which are being sold to the public as chicken and lamb meat products. Tons of meat were seized. Illegal containers that come from China were seized at the Custom Port of San Francisco which contains rat meat to be processed in plants are resold as chickens.
Reportedly, 900 people were arrested during the raid. Apparently, FDA inspectors have issued a warning that 300,000 pounds of rat and meat have already been circulating in the market.
According to Jenny Brookside, FDA spokesperson, she warns that, “If you find that your chicken wings taste slightly different from usual, it is a good bet that they might be counterfeit meat, but this can be easily hidden through the use of different ingredients and spices,”
