Cell Phones are our constant companions nowadays.Wherever we go, whatever we do, there’s always a smart phone in our hands. Some people are so pre-occupied with their phones. Some have become obsessed with taking hundreds of selfies each day. And some also tend to sleep with their phones so that they can easily pick it up first in the morning.
A 13 year-old North Texas girl named Ariel Tolfree was awaken in the night by a smoldering cell phone on the other side of her pillow. Ariel loves using her Samsung Galaxy S4 because its nice and pretty and its high-tech.

She had to borrow her dad’s S3 phone because her phone is burned so badly. “The whole phone melted. The plastic, the glass, you can’t even really tell that it was a phone,” according to Ariel’s dad, Thomas.
Ariel said her phone slipped under her pillow as she fell asleep, and the smell of something burning woke her up in the night. “I didn’t think much of it so I went back to sleep, and then I woke up again and it was more prominent.”
Thomas, her dad suspects the phone overheated, causing the battery to swell and start a fire. They contacted Samsung.

A spokesperson for Samsung says their products are safe and pointed out that the battery inside the phone was a replacement unit and not an original Samsung part. They take any instance of a battery fire very seriously.
Ariel said she doesn’t think people should sleep with their phones, instead put them on nightstand.
As a warning, don’t put your cell phone under a pillow when charging your device or when you are sleeping because covering one of your devices with bedding or other material could restrict airflow and cause a fire or explosion, which could lead to serious bodily injuries or damage to property.
