Sarangani representative and senatorial aspirant Manny Paquiao’s recent video interview,where he talks against his stand against same-sex unions, is drawing reactions from many citizens.The 8-time division world champion in boxing threw quite a punch in delivering his opinion about the matter.Many believed that Manny used his standards of morality to make a case against same-sex marriage, which in turn they believe does not make a valid argument against other people’s own standards.
Members of LGTB community and a number of celebrities express their disappointment over the comments made by Manny in an interview via Bilang Pilipino.
Pointing to the mating habit of animals, Paquiao said it was “common sense” for animals to pair with the opposite sex. Based on this, he concluded that those in same-sex unions are worse than animals.
Singer Aiza Seguerra,who is married to actress Liza Dino, lambasted Manny Pacquiao over his views on same-sex marriage. Aiza took to Instagram to blast Pacquaio who was quoted in an interview as saying that couples in a same-sex marriage are worse than animals.
Aiza wrote: “You might’ve done our country proud but with your statement, you just showed the whole country why we shouldn’t vote for you. And yes, I think you are an ignorant, bigoted hypocrite. You made me lose all respect that I had for you, Mr. Pacquiao.”
Aiza reminded the public to wisely choose the candidate they will vote for in coming May elections.
“Ang kailangan ng bansang ito ay mga taong nag-iisip. Utang na loob, kilalanin ninyo ang mga iboboto ninyo.”
Earlier, just like Aiza who called out Pacquiao for his controversial remark, Hollywood-based celebrity blogger Perez Hilton described Pacquiao’s views as “barbaric”.
