Comedian Vice Ganda, who is Jose Marie Viceral in real life, slammed senatorial candidate and boxing champ Manny Pacquiao over his sentiments against the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGTB) community.
The 8-time division world champion in boxing received flak after he aired his views against same –sex marriage in a TV interview posted on the Bilang Pilipino Facebook page on Monday.
According to Manny, pointing to the mating habit of animals, it was “common sense” for animals to pair with the opposite sex. Based on this, he concluded that those in same-sex unions are worse than animals.
While Pacquiao is entitled to his personal opinion, Vice Ganda, “It’s Showtime” host believes that the boxing champ used the wrong words when he called couples in same-sex marriages as worse than animals.
In a series of tweets on Tuesday, Vice Ganda, an openly gay comedian, defended the LGBT community.He also turned the tables against the boxer, saying that sleeping with other women other than his wife is also a sin. Pacquiao was previously linked to other women such as Krista Ranillo and Kat Ordonez while being married to his wife Jinkee.
Vice isn’t the first celebrity to criticize Manny fo his anti-LGBT sentiments. Singer Aiza Seguerra, who also protested Pacquaio’s remarks, calling him an “ignorant, bigoted hypocrite.”
However, Manny Pacquiao stood by his remarks on same-sex marriage in a social media post on Tuesday.
LGBT group Ladlad called on the public not to vote Manny in May 2016 elections.Vice also urged the voters to be more discerning about who they will vote for in May. Accoding to Vice “What we need in the Senate are those with experienced in politics, law and economics – not false prophets.”
