The complainant, a woman named Jessa told ABS-CBN News that she and her friends ordered food and drinks in a coffee store of Starbucks in Addition Hills branch located in Mandaluyong City around 9 p.m., Tuesday, January 26. After their conversations, they already went out. Since there was more left of her coffee, she decided to bring her cup home.
But when she was on her way home, she noticed a hard object inside the cup as she was stirring it which made her open the lid.
To her surprise, Jessa saw a lifeless mouse inside the cup floating in the drink that she bought in Starbucks.She was trembling and vomiting when she saw the dead mouse inside her drink.
Jessa went immediately to the Mandaluyong police station to report the incident after the branch manager denied that the dead mouse is part of the product they had served to her. The manager insisted that their store is clean and they have a sanitary permit.
Representatives of the city health and sanitation office who went there the following day for an ocular inspection reportedly said the branch showed complete permits but barred them from entering the kitchen in spite of their mission order.
In a statement, Starbucks Philippines vowed to conduct an internal probe on the allegation.
“At Starbucks, we want every customer who visits our stores to have a positive experience. The safety of our customers is the utmost importance, and we take our obligation to provide safe products seriously, “ the company stated. “ We are taking our customer’s concerns seriously and are actively investigating her claim.”
