Some people say that addiction to video games like DotA or Defense of the Ancients, a multiplayer online battle arena mod for the video game, cuts students’ interest in school.
But, not to Renz Fernandez, a 22-year old man who hails from Barangay 23, Sarrat, Ilocos Norte who is among the 2,967 people who passed the May 2016 Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Licensure Examination. He admitted he is an online game addict who usually spent 3 to 4 hours – at times, 12 hours – playing DOTA before doing his assignments or reviewing for his exams.
According to Renz, he still had time for DotA even when he was already reviewing for his board exam. DotA served as his stress reliever. He stressed that students need to find balance between leisure and studies. Time is the key, Renz added.
