“Balut” is a dark embryo boiled in its shell and eaten with salt and vinegar. It is a street food commonly found in Southeast Asian countries like the Philippines, Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos. It is a popular drunk food which is sold by street peddlers and it best served warm.
At first, the challengers were hesitant. One even said: “It’s a baby bird in there.”
Another one said: “I don’t even like hardboiled eggs, I don’t know why I’m here.”
But after trying eating “balut”, almost everyone agreed that it was delicious. One challenger quipped: “The fetus tastes good.”
