56- Year Old Woman Throw Money on the Street But No One Pick Them Up

A 56-year old Korean woman had withdrawn 42-million won in cash in a local bank in Seoul a few days earlier. She then hired a bodyguard to escort her with a paper bag full of the banknotes and took by taxi to Seoul Square to scatter the money.

At around 5 p.m. on Monday, the woman threw hundreds of 1,000-won, 5,000-won, 10,000-won banknotes in the Seoul Square, but no one has attempted to pick them up.

The passersby completely ignored the scattered bills on the street except for some people who stopped to take a glance and took some photos of the scene.

Police collect the banknotes scattered on the street and according to the police, picking up unattended money, can be punished by law on charges of theft. But the Korean Herald further explained the woman in this case  “had intended to give her rights to the money, so there was no legal basis to punish those who gathered the bills.”

The woman decided instead to donate the cash to anyone on the street, for fear that her ex-husband and son would try to take all the money from her. Too bad, no one really knew she was actually willing to give her fortune to strangers.
