Halsema Highway was considered one of the most dangerous highways in the world. Halsema Highway was also known as "Mountain Trail", it spans 150 kilometers between the towns of Baguio and Bontoc in Mountain Province. Its highest point is at 7,400 ft above sea level in the municipality of Atok, it is considered as the highest altitude highway in the Philippines.

Driving through Halsema, it’s a two- to four-lane highway, you will pass by 8 municipalities in Benguet, 4 towns in Mountain Province and once it reaches Dantay in Bontoc, it splits to downtown Bontoc or straight towards Sagada.

Halsema Highway was named after Eusebius Julius Halsema, a prolific American engineer. He served as Baguio's mayor from 1920 to 1937.

Even though it is beautiful, it is also dangerous. Halsema Highway was known as a landslide-prone area. As you can see, it has some unpaved roads and lack of guard rails. It made even more dangerous because of extreme fog condition and slippery asphalt during the rainy season.
