To personality Boy Abunda, the most popular gay television host and gay rights advocate speaks up on Manny Pacquiao's controversial statement about same-sex marriage as "worse than animals," in his weeknight talk show on ABS-CBN, "Abunda Tonite."
Abunda, who is in relationship with his partner for more than three decades, criticized the boxing champ and senatorial aspirant in May 2016 elections for "crossing the line" with derogatory remarks and will not allow him to be called lower than animal.
He also said: “I am not begging Manny Pacquiao for dignity, I am not begging you for respect, I am not begging you for humanity because you do not own my humanity, it’s mine.” “I'll fight for my humanity, It's mine,” Abunda added.
"Gay rights are human rights", Abunda quoted a statement from US presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.
He also quoted US President Barack Obama's comments on the US Supreme Courts decision favoring LGBT rights and same-sex marriage: "We are a people who believe that every single child is entitled to life and liberty and the pursuit of happiness."
Abunda also quoted Pope Francis' statement on gay priests: "If someone is gay and he searches for the Lord and has good will, who am I to judge?"
Boy Abunda said he will not vote for Pacquiao in May elections, just like comedian Vice Ganda, who earlier voiced his disgust over Pacquiao's controversial remarks.

It's not the first time that the boxer earned the ires of the LGBT community for being vocal of his anti-same-sex marriage stand. In 2012, Pacquiao reportedly issued a statement in a US newspaper comparing gay marriage to "Sodom and Gomorrah". He was said to have quoted a biblical passage that said "Gays should be put to death".
