Diane Kaye Jacob Ico, a 14-year old Filipina was born and raised in Barcelona, Spain. Her parents hail from Ilocos and Dagupan.
Diane is going straight to the semifinals after receiving the “Golden Buzzer” while performing “Memory” from the musical “Cats” on Got Talent Espana, Spain’s version of the popular “Got Talent” franchise which is aired in local TV channel Telecinco. She received a standing ovation from the audiences.
Judge Jorge Javier pressed the golden buzzer and praised Diane for her voice quality, but not totally impressed because he found Diane nervous and some parts of the song was “a bit off key”. Spanish pop star Edurne quickly defended Diane and said that “Memory” was a difficult song to sing but she sang it so well in tune.
Vazquez, also host of “The Voice Spain” admitted he is a huge fan of the song and considered Diane’s interpretation mature and good for an actual musical performance. He even went to the backstage to personally congratulate Diane and advised her to continue working on her talent.
Eva Hache, another judge was amazed with Diane’s showmanship and praised her for singing an English song with excellent diction.
Diane has taking voice lessons for many years and has performed in number of events in the Filipino community in Barcelona. She was once part of Barcelona-based Kudyapi Children’s Choir, a choir for Spain-born children whose parents are Filipinos.
